Customer Reviews
Customer rating is 3 of 5  Good game but you need the disc each time you play!   2010-07-27
By Ginger
This is my first review and it is for the CD version. I bought this game for my just-turned-4 granddaughter. She has been playing a downloaded version of I Spy Fantasy and loves it. One thing about these games is that you needn't know how to read. The child voice over starts out with "I spy" and then reads the items you are looking for. The words change color as you find the items. If my granddaughter forgets what the item is, putting the cursor on the words causes the voice over to repeat the item. NOTE for some who say the voice over stops: If you move the cursor while the original reading is going on, it WILL stop. No fidgeting with the mouse, please.

Now for my gripe! I bought this game in a hard copy CD version thinking it would be great to install on my computer as well as Great Gramma's. (The Big Fish I Spy Fantasy is on Gramma's and Daddy's computers) Since Great Gramma has no internet, I thought this would work great. What none of the descriptions or outside of the box say is that while you can install on more than one, you need the original disc to play on each and every computer. That means that you have to insert the disc every time and place you want to play!

What I should have done was bought this on Big Fish and just not worried about my mom's computer. It would have cost less and I could have installed it on up to 2 more computers for free. Scholastic responded to my email fairly quickly and pretty much said too bad that's just the way it is. Buy another disc if you want to avoid transporting it where ever you go. Next time I will buy Big Fish.

Oh, one more thing: Both Fantasy and Spooky have hint buttons so it is not frustrating if you can't find an item. Funhouse does not--too hard for a young child. I don't know about any others but would recommend downloading trials before you buy.
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Outstanding, educational, and fun!   2010-04-04

This is, hands down, one of the best games we've ever gotten for our kids. It's good for many, many hours of fun and learning. I was floored by the beautiful design and high quality that went into the game. This is not just a basic rehash of the books. The puzzles are clever, varied, challenging, and well-adapted to the PC. Very highly recommended!
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Great game for young schoolagers   2010-03-23

Players navigate through rooms in a haunted house finding objects in each room. Really good graphics and interactive elements. My daughter loves this game. We have just started with I Spy computer games although we've always enjoyed the books. My child is 6 and had no problems solving the puzzles. Probably best for the 6 -9 age group.
Customer rating is 4 of 5  Also Runs on Mac OS X   2010-03-05
By W. A. Broadhead (Tacoma, WA USA)
I can't get the Amazon Catalog folks to update the product information, but for those of you like myself who were wondering if this package includes a version for Mac OS X as well as Windows XP the answer is "yes". The CD includes software for both platforms and the game runs just fine on Mac OS 10.5 (Tiger), even on an old eMac. My 9-year-old says the game is "the perfect learning experience for how to spot very small objects." She likes it!
Customer rating is 1 of 5  Security Risk   2010-01-31
By Ryan Russon (Deerfield Beach, FL)
It's unlikely this will matter to most of you, but due to poor technical choices (or programmer incompetance) this game requires administrator privileges to run on Windows XP. For anyone concerned about the security and stability of their computer, the last thing you want is your kids running as admin, potentially deleting/changing your files or getting viruses on the machine. I use my PC for work and just can't risk losing important files, so this game has already been uninstalled since it won't work on the kids' login.
